From watching the traditions identified with Samhain, the roots, center highlights and cliché ideas related with Halloween become clear. As indicated by Ohogain (2003), the impact of the Celts is unquestionably more broad than is demonstrated by its divided endurance past the edges of western Europe. This culture which had been once been viewed as a profoundly critical one, keeps on staying as a crucial segment of European human advancement and legacy from east to west. Among the Celts, the dining experience of Samhain included stock-taking, and redesigning networks for the winter months which incorporated the or chestrating of quarters for voyaging warriors and strict educators. Samhain additionally signified a time of otherworldly power, when obscurity and rot won, rising up out of the antiquated hills of the open country, known as sidh. Of the two extraordinary entryways of the Celtic year, Samhain on November first was a higher priority than Beltane on May first, since it denoted the start of a totally new cycle; like the Celtic day which starts around evening time. ââ¬Å"The most mysteriously powerful time of this celebration is November Eve, the evening of October 31stâ⬠(Freeman, 1999), referred to today as Halloween. Relationship Between Parents and Children in Chinese Family free essay sample
In the mean time, Chinese guardians, similar to the mother in Amy Tanââ¬â¢s article, have an excessive amount of desire to their childrenââ¬â¢s future vocation and give them agonizing pressure. Positively, this sort of guardians referenced above can't shape a considerate relationship with their youngsters, particularly teenagers in the insubordinate period. The fact of the matter is the connection among guardians and youngsters in Chinese family is clashing from age to age due to various types of variables, and it causes a couple of difficult issues, for example, smoking, sedate use, and even self destruction. Correspondence and interests can dispatch lastly make sense of this horrendous condition. The reasons for clashing connection among guardians and kids can be summed up as difficult pressure, elevated standard and over-burden love. These components are incredibly regular in most of Chinese family because of same social foundation and severe arrangements. Chinese school selection test is one of the most significant assessments, since Chinese individuals accept that young people who are not in the top class can change their predetermination insofar as being admitted to a top college by Chinese school placement test. The confirmation of a remarkable college ensures a lucrative occupation. At the end of the day, partly, this assessment following twelve years essential instruction can choose oneââ¬â¢s later life. In light of this foundation, Chinese guardians profoundly expect their kid can work superbly in the Chinese school selection test. What's more, since one-youngster arrangement, under typical conditions, there is just a single kid in one Chinese family. All guardians and much other family membersââ¬â¢ considerations are paid to this kid. Truth be told, the lone kid has become the one of a kind any desire for guardians. Because of having a solitary youngster, this single kid is generally viewed as the proceeding with part and any expectation of parentsââ¬â¢ lives. Since life of parent has nearly been settled, they place their thought and desire on their kids and need them to their fantasy that they didn't understand. In Amy Tanââ¬â¢s article, ââ¬Å"Two Kindsâ⬠, with describing of first individual, Jing-Mei, the girl in the article, has a clashing relationship with her mom who experienced childhood in China and is a customary Chinese, since her mom very needs her to turn into a fruitful piano player and pushes her to rehearse a great deal each day. Be that as it may, the desire for Jing-Meiââ¬â¢s mother isn't what Jing-Mei needs in standard life. Step by step, she has tired of playing piano and in the end squabbles with her mom after disappointment of an ability appear. ââ¬Å"Only two sorts of daughters,â⬠She yelled in Chinese, ââ¬Å"These who are faithful and the individuals who follow their own psyche! Just a single sort of girl can live in this house. Submissive girl! â⬠(84) These words show the typical idea from a customary Chinese mother. She believes that a little girl ought to do what guardians solicit to do in light of the fact that from parentsââ¬â¢ penance in type of cash and endeavors. It appears this sort of thought only from time to time works; despite what might be expected, youngsters anticipate opportunity rather than parentsââ¬â¢ desire. In reality, this clashing relationship as a rule prompts some difficult issues like smoking, liquor drinking and medication use. Family is where individuals invest most energy in every day life. Along these lines, if the family relationship is clashing, it for the most part prompts the absence of family instruction as a result of no ordinary correspondence. Jing-Mei and her mom is a case of no typical correspondence however full fights. Unquestionably, family instruction assumes an ignificant job in the development of juvenile, and without family training, youngsters are bound to frame negative behavior patterns like smoking, liquor drinking and medication use. As per Sai-Yin Hoââ¬â¢s scholastic diary, Family structure, parent-youngster discussion time and substance use among Chinese youths, the creator discovers the ou tcome that ââ¬Å"Adolescent substance utilize dynamically expanded from flawless to maternal, fatherly and no-parent families reliably for current smoking (7. 9% to 18. 9%), week by week drinking (6. 1% to 21. 6%) and even medication use (6. 0% to 17. %) the same. â⬠(10) Obviously, this investigation about non-unblemished family shows that inadequacy of family, practically meaning the need or carelessness of family training, builds the likelihood of being associated with these undesirable practices. Likewise, there are some basic focuses between conventional Chinese family and non-flawless family. Them two give less consideration to mental instruction of youngsters. For the significance of Chinese school placement test, Chinese guardians typically center around the evaluations of the assessments as opposed to childrenââ¬â¢s every day practices. Especially in family with clashing relationship, they don't have the more profound correspondence to see one another, such as Jing-Meiââ¬â¢s family in Tanââ¬â¢s story. Kids can't get settled consideration and love from their folks, such a large number of them want to something other than what's expected from what typical youths do, such as smoking, liquor drinking and medication use. On one hand, they attempt to escape from genuine by enjoying liquor and medications. Then again, these youngsters need to get others consideration through these remarkable conduct. Whatââ¬â¢s more terrible, some juvenile who can't experience the ill effects of the excruciating pressure and high necessity want to end it all. Individuals normally have their own strategies to alter the pressure, nonetheless, if the pressure is colossal to such an extent that change doesn't work any longer, they fear confronting the weight and decide to get away or even end it all. The separation of high necessity of guardians and low conduct of kids in the tests can intensify the contention of Chinese guardians young people relationship. In Sylvia Kwokââ¬â¢s scholarly paper, ââ¬Å"Family Processes and Suicidal Ideation among Chinese Adolescent in Hong Kongâ⬠, it states ââ¬Å"over struggle in the family, especially parent-juvenile clash would make unsettling influence and stress the pre-adult, influencing their mental prosperity (e. g. , feeling of expectation, fulfillment with life), in this manner expanding their self-destructive ideation. â⬠(11) This announcement shows that the tension and weight brought about by clashing family relationship have the positive connections with self-destructive inclination, where the more uneasiness and weight kids experience the ill effects of, the simpler they will get the self-destructive contemplations. Home, not the same as work spot or school, is the last spot to unwind. Be that as it may, the contention relationship can't give a quiet spot to have a rest, yet additionally need more consideration than work or study. Undoubtedly, Chinese young people are confronting and experiencing both the weight from the Chinese school placement test and exclusive requirement from guardians, particularly the later one. Parentsââ¬â¢ exclusive standard pushes understudies to work increasingly hard and causes the greater part of contentions. In the long run, the extraordinary wish from guardians powers kids to the precipice, and disaster occurs. Answers for these significant circumstances have been discovered, expanding profound correspondence and building same interests. Correspondence has been referenced a few times as an important part among relatives. Clearly, Communication is a successful way to facilitate the clashing relationship and let guardians and kids see one another. Associating back to Amy Tanââ¬â¢s article, coming up short on the compelling correspondence, Jing-Meiââ¬â¢s mother can't show her immediate love however the desire, and, sadly, they don't see each other until Jing-Mei sees her motherââ¬â¢s remains. On the off chance that they could speak with one another profoundly as opposed to quarreling, the comprehension should come before Jing-Meiââ¬â¢s mother passed on. Correspondence can help guardians and youngsters know anotherââ¬â¢s brains and locate a reasonable answer for meet both sidesââ¬â¢ need. Moreover, as indicated by Kwokââ¬â¢s scholastic paper, ââ¬Å"Both relationship and relapse investigations demonstrated that a more elevated level of guardians youthful correspondence was essentially identified with a lower level of immature self-destructive ideation. â⬠(6) The outcome dependent on the exploration concentrate straightforwardly advises the impact of correspondence to the avoidance of this sort of repulsive thoughts. Talking up close and personal is the way to profundity of heart. Thusly, assuming that guardians are happy to invest a specific energy speaking with their youngsters consistently, they will know about adolescentsââ¬â¢ musings gradually and make sense of the age hole issue. Then again, youngsters can get care and love from their folks through correspondence, with the goal that it is more averse to do outrageous thing, as end it all. Similarly significant, guardians and youngsters can assemble same interests and get to know each other to get an agreeable relationship. Similar interests can make guardians kids relationship close, practically like fellowship. Take E. B. Whiteââ¬â¢s article, Once More to the Lake, for instance. The creator was partial to swimming in the lake. He brought his child, who had not swum previously, to the need during late spring. And afterward, the child additionally cherished this water sport with his dad. Thus, they spent practically entire summer around lake. In the exposition, Whiteââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"boy cherished our leased detachable, and his extraordinary want was to accomplish independent authority over it. It shows that, in light of similar propensities, they framed an agreeable relationship and got well alongside one another. There is less weight among White and his child. Albeit White is certainly not a Chinese dad, the manner in which he manages the relationship with his child is an effective guide to consider and follow. Guardians ought not simply give all consideration to test grades, all things considered, time went through with youngster together is commendable, on the grounds that it can improve the clashing relationship. The Road By Frank Mccarthy - 1274 Words
The landscape of a post-apocalyptic society contains nothing to live for, it is a world without the people you love, without sun, flowers or food; only lawlessness, fear and uncertainty of survival. McCarthy creates a post apocalyptic world in his book, ââ¬Å"The Road,â⬠that addresses the issues of our time by illustrating the fears of society and the violence that accompanies them. These fears at the time were most recently initiated by the attacks of 9/11 and the subsequent Iraq war and the resulting violence experienced both in America and around the world. McCarthyââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Roadâ⬠is a worst-case scenario, in which the broad American view that we are invincible and our principles are infallible is challenged. And with the violence in todayââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦A canteen. An old canvas army pouch. A leather sheath for a knife. When he looked up the roadrat was holding the knife in his hand. He d only taken two steps, but he was almost betwe en him and the child.â⬠(McCarthy, 65). Since 9/11, we are a country that fights an invisible enemy of terror, and must defend itself against this threat. It is feasible that Americans in 2006 feared human-inflicted destruction of the U.S., if not the whole world. The man and his son are also fighting an invisible enemy. They never know when or where someone will attempt to kill them. Although the man and the boy are fundamentally peaceful people, if challenged they will use the necessary force to protect themselves from this enemy. So, in this passage when faced with the choice, the man chose violence to fight violence and ensure the survival of the boy. In contrast, in an article in the New York Times, Thom Shanker reports on Secretary of State Condolezza Riceââ¬â¢s opinion of a mandate approved by the United Nations. ââ¬Å"Rice urged the peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon yesterday to act on what she termed ââ¬Ëa very robustââ¬â¢ mandate approved by the Unite d Nations that grants international troops authority to challenge anyone who attempts to block their mission, and to use force if necessaryâ⬠(Shanker). This mandate authorizes troops to fight anyone who gets in their way, allowing for the use of force if necessary. In both passages, the need for the use of force is left up

An Argument Against Abortion Essay - 1400 Words
An Argument Against Abortion Abortion is a serious topic that people have been debating about for years. Everywhere you turn the topic of abortion presents itself, on TV, in the newspapers, in books and magazines. It already has, and will continue to cause, controversy for years to come. As long as abortion remains legal, pro-life advocates will continue to protest what they believe to be these horrible acts of murder. Dating all the way back to the 1800ââ¬â¢s, abortions have been taking place all over the world. In the US abortion laws were created around 1820 stating that women would not have abortions after already being pregnant for four months. Then by 1900 most abortions were outlawed. It wasnââ¬â¢t until 1956 that all fifty states hadâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It has a genetic make up from the time of creation, therefore making it a living thing. It was argued that the fetus was just a mass of tissue that wasnââ¬â¢t really alive, but it has been proven that it is indeed a human being. The concept fetus is used to denote the unborn human from the end of the eighth week after conception to the moment of birth, as distinguished from the earlier embryo (the product of conception from implantation in the uterus through the eighth week of development). A fetus contains all the organs and has the basic human form. (Rand) So when we take the life of a fetus, we are taking the life of another human being. Looking at abortion from a religious viewpoint, abortion is a mortal sin. Taking the life of a human being is the greatest sin a human can commit. If it is not acceptable to take the life of a 5 year old, an 18 year old, or a 50 year old, then why is it acceptable to take the life of a human who hasnââ¬â¢t even had the chance to live yet? The point is it shouldnââ¬â¢t be. Taking a life, no matter what the age is, is morally wrong. An unexpected pregnancy is no reason to abort the baby. If someone is mature enough to make the decision to have sex, they should be mature enough to do it properly, and if they do not, they should live with the consequences of their actions. Concepts Of Lifetime Fitness Essays - Physiology, Heat Transfer
Concepts Of Lifetime Fitness Essays - Physiology, Heat Transfer Concepts of Lifetime Fitness September 1, 1997 Homeostasis is the state of equilibrium in which the internal environment of the human body remains relatively constant. Two excellent examples of homeostasis are how the body maintains a constant temperature and blood pressure during strenuous physical activity or exercise. Although there are many other activities in the body that display homeostasis, I will only discuss these two. Temperature in the human body is usually kept at approximately 37 degrees Celsius. To maintain such a strict temperature, the body has a few functions to combat the outside elements. People cannot make themselves cold as readily as make themselves hot, however I will mention both homeostasis functions. When the external temperature decreases, a portion of the brain called the hypothalamus detects the drop by means of the blood. To compensate, the brain sends chemical and electrical impulses to the muscles. These impulses tell the muscles to begin to contract and relax at very high intervals. This is commonly known as shivering. The production of Adenosine Triphosphate or ATP in the mitochondria of the muscles produces heat. If the body temperature does not rise immediately after this, then a second function begins. The brain will signal the blood vessels near the skin to constrict or narrow in diameter. This occurs so the heat deep in the muscles is conserved. Sinc! e the vessels are now smaller in diameter, less blood is needed to fill them. Since less blood is needed through the vessels, the heart begins to slow. If the body remains in this slowed state, hypothermia could result. Hypothermia is the condition in which metabolic processes are inhibited. The medical world has taken advantage of this by inducing hypothermia in patients that are undergoing organ transplants. To fight temperatures higher than normal, as in exercise or on hot days, the body reacts in the opposite way than with cold. Again, the hypothalamus detects the change of temperature in the blood. The brain signals blood vessels not to constrict, but to dilate. This increases the diameter of the vessels, and results in the need for more blood. Since more blood is needed to fill the vessels, the heart pumps faster and that causes respiration to increase. The increased respiration will make the body exhale some of the internal heat, like placing a fan in a window to cool a room. The blood vessels are dilated so the heat deep in the muscles is easily released. Another commonly known mechanism to fight heat is sweating. Sweat glands found throughout the body are stimulated by the hypothalamus to excrete sweat and when the sweat evaporates, the skin is cooled. If the body is not cooled by the time all of the internal water supply is used, it could go into hypothermia. Th! is is when the body becomes dehydrated and proteins begin to denature. Hypothermia can result in certain death if the water supply is not immediately replenished. Some advantages to these mechanisms are the cleansing effect of sweating and weight loss. Sweat, when excreted, removes waste materials such as bacteria and water. Fat material, during exercise, is actually "eaten" by the body thus reducing overall weight. The second example of homeostasis is blood pressure regulation. When the hydrostatic pressure of blood is above normal, pressure sensors in the blood vessels tell the brain through chemical means. The brain will then stimulate the heart to contract or beat in slower intervals. This will cause less blood to enter the blood vessels and that will lower the hydrostatic pressure. If the pressure is lower than normal, the exact opposite happens. The sensors in the vessels tell the brain and the brain will then make the heart beat faster so more blood enters the vessels and the pressure is raised. The body uses many mechanisms to regulate temperature and blood pressure. Be it stimuli to the heart from the brain or messages from the blood, the body maintains its internal environment through a process called homeostasis.

Descartes and Certainty Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Descartes and Certainty - Essay Example Descartes opens himself to the possibility of rejecting the beliefs he has adopted early in life without proof down to the ones that lay foundation on his belief system. Descartes starts off by questioning his physical and spiritual existence. He checks for the veracity of his possessing a body and soul. His doubts escalate to the properties of objects such as dimension, color, quantity, and the place and time during which they exist. Afterwards and quite quickly, Descartes jumps into the subject of the existence of God, which also appears in a separate meditation - Meditation III. One may ask, "Why does Descartes' questioning on the existence of God appear so early in Meditation I" After attempting to prove his existence, Descartes tries to prove the existence of God or what he refers to as Deity. To him the ability to prove God's existence is the most significant goal the failure of which implied inability to prove everything else. This is how important the goal is to him. To a believer like Descartes, conceiving of ideas and existence of other things is only possible with God. It seems impossible to comprehend a world without a God. The existence of God simplifies the laws of nature, and answers the questions as to why the universe behaves the way it does. From his writings, it is clear that Descartes believes in God. Meditation II gives us a clearer view of Descartes' "I think therefore I am." Note that in Meditation I, Descartes' doubts concerning life, the universe and everything are strengthened by the contemplation of an "omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent" God being a deceiver. In many of his musings, Descartes bumps into skepticism but rejected it right away. At length, Descartes goes about his uncertainties and contradicts them to be able to get to his desired answer. He talks about intuition of the mind arguing that objects and bodies should be perceived not by the senses or imagination but by the intellect alone. Meditation III reveals Descartes advancing in his method of finding truth by forming a basis of certainty - the clear and distinct. To quote: "In this first knowledge, doubtless, there is nothing that gives me assurance of its truth except the clear and distinct perception of what I affirm". By "clear and distinct" he refers to objects that were not only perceived by his senses and ideas that formed in his mind but also objects whose existence was external to him. Despite this, Descartes cannot help doubting. As he progresses towards certainty, a new question forms in his mind and the process becomes circular. Descartes answers his metaphysical doubt by proving that God exists and is not a deceiver. Once he has proven the existence of God then everything else will follow. He treats the existence of God in the context of the existence of the material world. He uses wax as an example - extending it, melting it and so on and applies the same process of thought with God or Deity, for that matter. How ever little that metaphysical doubt, it has to be eliminated in order to witness the certainty of the existence of things. Descartes has to convince us that God or the evil genius has not merely enticed him into thinking that something can't emerge from nothing. Descartes attempts to make his point by dealing with contradictions. He uses

Understanding what Taylor to be saying about the meaning of life Assignment
Understanding what Taylor to be saying about the meaning of life - Assignment Example The stone would roll repeatedly roll down and he would have to constantly roll the stone back up forever. Sisyphus was punished for telling secrets of the gods to other humans. Taylor cites this activity as ââ¬Å"a meaningless, pointless toil of a meaningless existence that is absolutely never redeemed.â⬠(Taylor, n.d., p.141) There are no further results of the activity other than its repetitiveness. Taylor then suggests an alteration of this myth: If the gods had given the same punishment, while making Sisyphus really want to continuously roll stones up a hill even if it was still considered a pointless activity he would likely find his life to be meaningful. By presenting readers with this alternative scenario Taylor seems to suggest that life is made meaningful by determination, a positive attitude and acceptance of daily tasks. While Sisyphus is still performing the same tasks as in the previous myth, the only difference is that Sisyphus is determined to complete these tas ks .As Taylor explains when discussing the alternative scenario: ââ¬Å"Sisyphus has been reconciled to it, (his task) and indeed more he has been led to embrace it.â⬠(Taylor, n.d., p144) Therefore it is up to the individual to create meaning for his/her life. The meaning of life depends upon the tasks that are done on a daily basis even if they do not amount to anything significant. It partially depends upon oneââ¬â¢s attitude about their daily routines. For example if individuals can accept the fact that they need to go to work to make a living even if they dislike their jobs and they have a positive attitude about it their lives can be meaningful. However if you feel negatively about your job and believe you are not accomplishing anything worthwhile but do not attempt to make changes to improve your situation, you will likely view your life as meaningless. Economic Commentary Essay Example for Free
Economic Commentary Essay This article talks about a recent increase in the rate of unemployment in the Euro-zone countries due to the fall of the rate of inflation, which was caused by a decrease in the oil and commodity prices. In this commentary, I will analyze the relationship between these two economic problems, discuss their effects and evaluate the possible solutions. Europeââ¬â¢s inflation dropped from 1.6% to 1.1% in the last two months. According to economic theory, such a fall in the general price level (PL) is not ideal because it limits economic growth. In this case, the decrease of inflation rate is caused by a raise in the short run aggregate supply (SRAS) due to the fall of the oil and commodity prices. This also reduces the consumerââ¬â¢s price expectations, therefore decreasing aggregate demand (AD). [See graphs] The effects of this situation are double-sided. The fall in the European inflation rate will hurt people with variable incomes, and benefit people with fixed incomes. Due to the increase in the purchasing power of money, it will hurt borrowers and benefit lenders. As the value of money rises, savings will become more productive; however, it will cause a fall in expectations that reduces investment in the stock market. Finally, it will discourage the creation of new ventures; although, it will prevent future capital flight. In addition to these effects, inflation provokes unemployment. The European Central Bank (ECB) has reported that its unemployment rate rose from 7.9% to 8% in December, as inflation decreased. In the European Union, anyone 15 years of age or older who is not working but available for work and actively looking for one is considered unemployed. This type of unemployment is classified as cyclical because it varies with the business cycle. In order to understand better how unemployment relates to inflation, the economist A.W. Phillips did several studies showing that there is a trade-off between them. As inflation increases, people have more money in their hands. This will encourage the government to increase its spending, hence creating new jobs. Phillips designed a curve (PC) that portrayed the relationship between these contradictory macroeconomic goals. Increasing unemployment has the following economic and social costs: According to Arthur Okun, for every 1% increase in unemployment, there is a 2.5% decrease in the real GDP which will increase government borrowing and budget deficit, leading to a raise in the indebtedness of the countries. More unemployment implies more people insured by the social security programs; hence, the government welfare costs will increase. In addition, less people in conditions to pay income taxes will reduce government tax revenues. Unemployment causes an increase in homelessness and, therefore, in street violence and crime. Similarly, it incites alcoholism and drug consumption, as well as immigration and suicides. From the PC, it can be concluded that a higher inflation will decrease the rate of unemployment in the EU. This, according to the article, will be attempted by the ECB through the implementation of discretionary expansionary monetary policy, which consists in a raise in money supply and a decrease in interest rate, to increase AD and lower SRAS. This is a policy taken from the Neo-Keynesian macro-model that believes in interventionism and short run measures to prevent deflation. [See graph] One of the strengths of monetary policy is the short recognition, decision and execution lags. According to economists Mendel Gordon and Milton Freedman, they vary from 5-10 months and 6-24 months, respectively. One of its weaknesses, identified by Neo-Keynesian fiscal activists, is the weak links between banks and borrowers. This means that, regardless the interest rate changes, expectations remain unchanged. Fiscal activists also believe that monetary policy works indirectly and, thus, more slowly; however, monetary activists claim that it is not slower than fiscal policy. Finally, monetary policy would succeed in increasing the rate of inflation, although it is limited by cash leakages and volt cash. Moreover, Milton Freedman affirms that it may destabilize the economy because of insufficient information. Consequently, it is better to follow the K% rule which consists in the establishment of a constant money growth rate determined by the Central Bank.

La paideia homosexuelle: Foucault, Platon et Aristote :: French Essays
La paideia homosexuelle: Foucault, Platon et Aristote ABSTRACT: As Michel Foucault describes it, the homosexual paideia in classical Greece was an erotic bonding between a boy who had to learn how to become a man, and a mature man who paid court to him. In many of his dialogues, Plato plays with this scheme: he retains the erotic atmosphere, but he inverts and purifies the whole process in the name of virtue and wisdom. In the Republic, however, Socrates' pupil forsakes this model in favor of a bisexual education for the shepherds and shepherdesses of the State. Aristotle resolutely opposes this move. He thus reverts to a kind of homosexual paideia for the future citizens of his ideal state, but this choice fosters many unspoken problems. The results of any form of bullying is troubling, the effects on victims and those family members in some cases lead to catastrophic outcomes or a change in which a victim conducts his or her life. In any case, to change the way you live or stop participating in your favorite activities because of who is waiting for you down the street or in school is the best way to fuel and promote the negative behavior of any bully. All bullies feed off of one factor, fear. If they know they control your lifestyle and places fear or shame in your heart then they have accomplishes just what they have been trying to do, control you. What is cyber bullying? Cyber bullying is a new form of aggressions sought out by those individuals looking to embarrass or harm the victim across the World Wide Web by use of social networks, blogs, email, and other devises use for internet reading and sharing. The outcome of this form of bullying is the same as physical bullying, both with their share of outcomes with negative impact. The anthropology process of this study comprised of various groups of young adult grouped by age, gender and sexuality. The number of participants was 20,000 students from the second wave of the Metro West Adolescent Health Survey. This survey is important because it address one of the main areas concerning all parents of victim child suicide. Here are some facts ââ¬Å"15. 8% of students reported cyber bullying, and 25. 9% reported school bullying in the past 12 months. The overlap between cyber bullying and school bullying was substantial: 59. 7% of cyber bullying victims were also school bullying victims, and 36. 3% of school bullying victims was also cyber bullying victims. Non-heterosexually identified youths were far more likely than were heterosexually identified youthsâ⬠. What is most alarming with these facts are the following. 37. 8% of victims of either cyber or school bully committed self-injury to themselves, 15. 2% had suicide attempts, 30% had thoughts of suicide while 6. 6% suffer an attempt of suicide with medical treatment. It appears that once a child become victim of bullying he/she fails to speak to adults, thus leading to the child feelings of despair that could trigger an emotional psychological breakdown. It becomes increasingly important for parents to play a strong role in their childââ¬â¢s life. We have to become aware of the surroundings that our children choose to associate as hobbies, friends and media networking. Also communication is a strong asset, share with them that it is ok to tell an adult if they are bullied or threaten in any manner. Sexual orientation plays a role in traditional and cyber bullying as well. It statics show that if a child lives a homosexual lifestyle or is bisexual they have a higher risk at becoming victims to both cyber and traditional bullying. The thoughts of suicide also are a bit higher within this lifestyle. Regardless of the ethnicity the numbers are staggering. The authors in this article have several main points that they want to stress, the first of many is to bring about awareness to this world-wide epidemic of bulling thatââ¬â¢s taking the lives of our youth. Secondly, to focus on which age groups are mostly the centers of attacks. Thirdly, to find a solution to combat the practices of bullying in our schools and neighborhoods, their intentions are to educate the general public. They wanted to depict differences between cyber bullying and its relationship to school bullying. Understanding the differences between the two could help facilitate and developed a school prevention systems that could aid those that are victimize of this despicable act of behavior. When taking a look at the length of investigative approaches performed by the authors that conduct this study, it obvious to learn of the great effort put forth to gather such information. In the field of anthropology all cultural anthropologists rely on one scientific method for gathering information while studying cultural, fieldwork. Field work is the characteristic of all the anthropological sub disciplines and is a main source for gathering information that deal with different cultures and ethnicities. To have hands on approach and the study of any giving topic the foundationally foot work starts with an investigative approach in all subject matter, ultimately ending with a solid conclusion that is not just opinionated but scientific truth. In conclusion, the authors of the article try to identify a world-wide epidemic that is affecting our childrenââ¬â¢s social stability and academic performance. By researching the effects of bullying (rather cyber or school-yard) it allows parents to absorb the harsh realities of what their child could endure as an adolescent under extreme pressure. Children of all ages are taking their own lives as a result of being out-casted by peers of the same group, neighborhood, age, sex, and ethnicity. The real question is why? How far does a child have to be push before his/her mind is made up to commit suicide? We as parents need to beware and actively involved with all social activities and friends that our children consider part of their lives.

American History And Its Impact On The West And Distant...
Unsurprisingly, many historic cultures have not been accurately studied in modernity. Due to personal biases, incomplete data, or a multitude of other issues, incorrect perceptions about these collapsed societies remain. However, modern studies are beginning to reveal the inaccuracies of those enduring, false notions. It is valuable to compare misunderstandings to the historic reality in addition to discovering why the past happened as it did. Although newer, more factual information will not erase long-taught misconceptions about collapsed societies like Jamestown, El Dorado, or the Norse Greenlanders, it provides the chance to better understand historic events in an effort to help guide decisions that could affect the near and distant future. Jamestown has a permanently secured place in American history as the young countryââ¬â¢s first successful, permanent colony. When the Europeans arrived in 1606 with 104 men and boys hoping to find their riches in the New World, they found a largely empty landscape. Over the next few decades, the Jamestown people were able to thrive while the native populations were dying because the colonists had more advanced technology, Christianity, and European sensibilities. They were able to properly manage the empty, surrounding area, convert it to farmland, and grow highly profitable tobacco that helped spur further growth in what would become the US. However, itââ¬â¢s reality tells a much different story.
